Martins Ferry City Schools

Dear Martins Ferry Community,

Welcome back! As we begin another exciting school year in the Martins Ferry City School District, I am deeply honored to address you as your new Superintendent.

Martins Ferry has always been home for me. Born and raised in this community, my own journey through the district began at Hilltop Elementary, continued through Steeple Valley and Elm Middle School, and culminated when I walked across the stage as a proud 1997 graduate of Martins Ferry High School.

In 2004, I returned home to begin my teaching career as an intervention specialist at Hilltop Elementary. I continued in that role as we transitioned into our campus facilities and later stepped into administration—serving as Assistant Principal and Principal at Ayers Elementary, and eventually as Principal at Martins Ferry High School. Over the past 20+ years, I have been afforded a privilege few in education ever experience: greeting students at the door on their very first day of kindergarten and later watching them walk across the graduation stage to receive their diplomas. Being part of that journey for generations of Purple Riders is something I cherish deeply.

As I embark on this new chapter as Superintendent, my goal is to help shape a path for our district that will serve our students and community for generations to come. But this mission cannot be accomplished alone. It will take a shared commitment and partnership among our dedicated teachers, administrators, families, and community members.

Martins Ferry is a place we are all proud to call home, and a strong, thriving school system is a cornerstone of that pride. Moving forward, our commitment remains clear:

  • Building Strong Foundations: Delivering high-quality reading and mathematics programs in our elementary school to ensure our youngest learners build the essential skills needed for lifelong academic success.
  • Creating Lifelong Opportunities: Elevating our high school experience by offering robust Advanced Placement (AP) and College Credit Plus (CCP) courses, expanding career-readiness pathways, and supporting a diverse range of extracurricular and athletic programs.

The future of the Martins Ferry City School District is bright, and I am truly excited to partner with you to write this next chapter together. Thank you for your continued support of our schools, our staff, and, most importantly, our students.

Go Riders!!!

Warm regards,
